Dressing Up for a Kids Parade

My brother Justin is the sign bearer, my sister Lois is the pioneer lady and I'm the pioneer man. This was the kids parade for the Minden Iowa centennial in the early 70's.

Winter in Iowa

We would go bobsledding with our neighbors.

What fun we had riding around the countryside visiting our fellow farming neighbors.

On our farm we had a small creek.

It wasn't very big, but it was so much fun to ice skate on.

Iowa Girls Basketball

I believe next week is Iowa Girls Basketball tournament in Des Moines.

I found this old picture of my sister Lois and I in our Basketball "Vikette" uniforms. We played 6 on 6 basketball. It was unique to Iowa and ended about 5 years after I graduated.

Since I was tall, I was a "Post Forward". Look at the Converse tennis shoes, stripped tube socks, knee pads and of course the short shorts. Iowa girls basketball is quite an institution. I really have some great memories playing basketball in Iowa!!
